Mission Statement
The Tiptonville Senior Center strives to meet the needs of the elderly of the county by assessing and prioritizing their needs giving special atttention to the low income,low income minority,frail and handicapped and attempt to serve them in at least the same proportion with their numbers as compared to the service aarea population. The major objective is to maintain independence and dignity by preventing institutionalization by providing community based in home services for persons capable of caring for themselves with assisstance. To help older persons enjoy better health. Health, Nutrition, and educational programs will be offered.Recreational and intergenerational activities will be provided to allow some older persons to maintain a feeling of selfworth and diginity.
Options State Program-Options is a home and community based program that provides in-home assistance to older consumers and other adults with disabilities.To be eligible an applicant must be 18 years or older with a disability and is at risk of losing his or her independence.Upon meeting the criteria of the initial telephone screening performed by our Information and Assistance Specialist to determine eligibility, an in home assessment is done and a care of plan developed.
Senior Olympics-The Senior Olympic participants play in bowling, golf, field and track events, shuffleboard, swimming, tennis, basketball freethrow, and horseshoes.Senior olympics are for persons 50 years of age or older and emphasizes the fact that you are never too old to start exercising. ther are seniors participating from the ages of 50-90.
